... koennt ihr die zweite spur von rechts sehen? ja, nicht lustig - obwohl wir uns das lachen nicht verkneifen konnten, als der schlitten fast hielt und dann nur noch ganz langsam, zentimeter fuer zentimeter weiter vor kroch

... now there is only a bit of office work to take care of and the new year can come - if only it were that simple for all of us!
...nun muessen nur noch ein paar schreibarbeiten erledigt werden und das neue jahr kann kommen - wenn es doch nur fuer uns alle so einfach waer!

... my bit of nature curiosity ... i watched this woodpecker for minutes, not moving at all. finally i wondered in my worried mind if it was at all possible that he git his beak stuck - sounds ridiculous i know - but it simply looked strange. i got so worried that i eventually went out to check on him and was relieved when he finally moved with me close enough to touch him. later i decided that it must be his way of hiding from prey birds, by shaping himself like a branch.
anyone with a better explanation?
... ich hatte diesen specht nun schon eine ganze weile beobachtet und gespannt darauf gewartet, dass er sich doch nun endlich bewegen wuerde - doch nichts dergleichen. schliesslich kam in meinen sorgenden gedanken die frage auf, ob es denn moeglich waere, dass ihm der schnabel stecken geblieben ist? - klingt laecherlich, ich weiss - aber es sah einfach zu seltsam aus, wie er da klammerte. letztendlich war ich zu besorgt und ging nachzusehen, erheblich erleichtert als er sich dann doch bewegte als ich schon nah genug stand ihn zu beruehren. spaeter beschloss ich, dass er wohl so an den ast geklammert schlaeft, um sich vor raubvoegeln zu tarnen.
irgendjemand mit einen besseren vorschlag?
